Q) MJay I believe you're also known as "Prince of the Ghetto". Where does that come from?
"Prince Of The Ghetto" is a name originally given to me by my Dad and this was because he felt i was different, had a different sound my style was unique, i had a different approach to my music and i had the right image and so he defined me as The Prince of the ghetto. As the weeks went on the name "Prince Of The Ghetto" grew on alot of people and they began callin me The Prince Of The Ghetto.
Q) How would you describe your music / sound?
My Sound Basically is a Blend Mix of R&B/Hip Hop. I write/Rap and Sing aswell as produce my own stuff. i would say Basically my sound is the best of both worlds as i mix UK Stuff with American stuff and then twist it to make sure its MJay stuff Haha. Basically my stuff is about the experiences teenagers have as well as our dreams, girls, relationships etc.
Q) Tell us a bit about you debut album "The Come Up".
My Debut album was Titled the Come Up But i have now Changed it To "Prince Of the Ghetto" and the reason behind this concept is being different being a Prince even at hard times. The album is due to be released later this year, i am looking at aiming for around August-September. I am Planning to release the hottest album as an Independent Artist, i have started working on the 1st Single Off the album titled "Tribal Fever" which will be released in March, its a Hot single and the concept behind it is Meeting a girl that Makes you feel so hot she gives you a fever but not any type of Fever That Tribal Fever. So watchout for March The 7th.
Q) Where does the inspiration for your lyrics come from?
The Main Inspirtion behind My Lyrics is Basically everyday Life, Relations, My needs, Dreams, Girls etc,i write what comes to me, i write when i feel inspired. Music has always been a passion and writing music is the fun bit for me because i express my feelings in My Music.
Q) So what does it mean to get to beat 10,000 entrants to get to the regional final of live and unsigned? (sheffield city hall on the 8th of March)
To Beat 10,000 Entrants and claim a spot in the regional Final for Live and Unsigned means alot to me, its a priviledge to be going out there and representing my region, my city as well as my Music, i know alot of people think i am still young and don't know what i am doing but i am on that grown man business, my music is apart of me, and each aspect about it i take seriously including, perfoming, Recording, Business Plans, Career Goals and aims etc. And so its amazing to be taking part in such a major competition and i just hope i can wow the fans and judges again at the regional finals and go on the grand finals, so i hope you all support me.
Q) Any plans / aspirations for the future?
My Plans For the Future are too continue working Hard, release an amazing Album, Get a Record Deal and carry on Climbing the ladder of success. My Main Goal is to become a successful Music Artist and Inspire other Upcoming Artists. i also Plan to work with alot more artists of other music genres on collaborations or songwriting and so if theres any Artists out there that want to get in touch then Please Do.
